Black Panther couldn’t have got a better release, with the Marvel movie dominating the Box Office, now generating over $1 billion in revenue. It’s also been confirmed for a sequel.

The Michael B. Jordan movie is the biggest Box Office release for the opening weekend in the month of February. It’s also got the record for the most tweeted about movie of the year so far, but with movies like Solo: A Star Wars Story pending release, it’s quite unlikely that the record will hold.

Black Panther made $521 million domestically which puts it in second only behind The Dark Knight for the largest superhero release of all time. In terms of reaching $1 billion globally, this is the fifth Marvel movie to achieve this, along with: The Avengers, ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron, ‘Iron Man 3, and Captain America: Civil War.

Black Panther 2 is also happening! When Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige was recently interviewed by Entertainment Weekly about the possibility of a sequel, he confirmed that there will be one. 

“We absolutely will do that,” he said. “One of the favorite pastimes at Marvel Studios is sitting around on a part one and talking and dreaming about what we would do in a part two. There have been plenty of those conversations as we were putting together the first ‘Black Panther.’ We have ideas and a pretty solid direction on where we want to head with the second one.”
