Daxam invading Earth does have echoes of Non's takeover attempt in season 1 of Supergirl. This episode, titled "Resist," quickly establishes that things are much more serious. In a terrifyingly effective opening sequence, Daxam takes to Earth with guns blazing, murdering everyone in sight. They quickly ransack DEO headquarters, and everyone is forced to retreat to the alien bar for cover. Supergirl has never had higher stakes for a conflict, and it quickly turns "Resist" into one of the better hours of the series, even if it is all just a set-up for the season 2 finale.
