Kakuriyo: Bed and Breakfast for Spirits Episode 16 was a lot more pleasant than what I thought. What I mean is we didn't see Aoi bullied the entire time. It felt like she was right back at Tenjin-ya. I was pleasantly surprised. We didn't really see too many Orio-ya employees either. I am not complaining though. I am sure they have their reasons for acting hostile. But at the moment I do not like them. Let's get into our discussion of Episode 16.
Tenjin-ya employees
I loved that all the Tenjin-ya employees miss Aoi. I thought it was so sweet. I love how Akatsuki rushed to Moonflower when he saw the light on. I am starting to think he might have a little crush on her. It was such a touching scene to see all of them cleaning up Moonflower. I think it proves that Aoi quickly became the backbone of Tenjin-ya.
The Master
I was kind of surprised to see the master at Orio-ya. I loved it though. It shows that he truly cares for Aoi. He can't be without her. In the first episode, I didn't really ship them. Now I totally do. I feel that there is more romantic chemistry there.
The master brought her new clothes, and ingredients. That's something Ginji just can't do. Like the master can take care of her. Ginji does offer her moral support. Beyond that nothing else. I feel like it is more of a friendship.
I also love that he sets Aoi straight about Ginji. What Aoi doesn't realize is that Ginji has something to do. She should have respected that. But instead, she is being stubborn. The master flat out tells Aoi," What are you his mother?". The master also reveals the truth about the southern land. They need the fireworks ceremony to bless the land.
So they did kidnap Aoi on purpose. They needed her help with the master tengu. Which confirms what I said in my episode 15 discussion. They couldn't ask her for help outright for a few reasons. The first cause of the rivalry between the two inns. Second, because Aoi is a human.
The Picky Guest
At the end of the episode, Aoi has to help with a guest. This guest is a picky eater. A few of the chefs ask Aoi for help. I think this will turn out good for Aoi. If the guests like her food then it gives her more pull at Orio-ya.
