I was not planning on doing one of these in the near future but I came across a few great short animated films that I felt that I had to share (all credit goes to the original posters of course)
- The sad man
This was such a pleasant surprise. Simply but beautifully Animated the sad man can be interpreted in a bunch of ways. We see a creepy figure with an odd grin on his face who is seemingly all by himself in the world until he meets a young girl and befriends her. He does that by hurting himself and she is drawn in by her compassion. I don’t want to spoil the end but the point I got from it was that the sad man is a very troubled person and has a lot of problems meeting friends, thus he relied on self harm in order to get compassion from people. However due to his weird nature and not being used to people getting close to him and he does not know how to express himself. Thus he does something that he later regrets a lot.
- Who’s Hungry?
Nothing too special about the plot. It is a modern retelling of Hansel and Gretel with great animation style that reminds me of the Little nightmares game.
- Amy
I was going back and forth on if I should add this since the topic can be a bit traumatic but it was so well done that I had to share it. Great animation, creepy music and so much things told just from a simple animated short.
