Indie films have long dabbled in the horror genre. It takes a special kind of bravery to try sci-fi with an Indie budget. Nine Ladies Films has the required gall and will soon release Starman, an indie sci fi Film. The film’s cast includes Nigel Barber, Mia Mills, Elliot Rennie among others. Stuard Connock Wheeldon is the show runner.  Stuart and Nick John Whittle write the script. The promos for the indie sci-fi film are out and are quite interesting. Cast members speak about their roles in some of the videos.

In Bollywood, sci fi hasn’t been a very big genre, but some of the biggest successes have been sci fi films. The most popular Indian sci fi film till date is Mr. India, which is about a young man gaining invisibility powers because of a mysterious gadget. Another successful mainstream sci fi film is Koi Mil Gaya, which then became the Krish franchise. Indian indie film makers have largely stayed away from sci fi. Only Jackky Bhagnani recently was part of the first Indian sci fi short film, Carbon, which had sci fi elements and was set in a dystopian world. Watch the teaser trailer here:
