Welcome Roxy and thank you for honoring us with this quick interview.
Let’s get this interview started.
Jonuel: What can you share about your training?
Roxy: My first agent had a Drama school attached to it, ‘Identity Drama School’ which tutored the likes of John Boyega, Melanie Liburd, and Zach Momoh, and I also did a course at RADA. I think it’s important to train and stay warm as an Actor, but also I think you learn a lot on the job. Nothing can prepare you like the real experience!
Jonuel: What would be your dream role would and what would you bring to it?
Roxy: I love strong females! I want to remain as diverse as possible as an Actor, which I think is every Actor’s dream, however I suppose anything involving a strong story line where I can play an alpha female… for example a complex role similar to ‘Annalise Keating’ played by Viola Davis in ‘How to get away with Murder’.
Jonuel: What’s the last thing you do before you step in front of a camera or on stage?
Roxy: Mindfulness. I practice mindfulness on a daily basis. It really gets me in sync with my body, and my breath. I find it’s extremely calming and helps with the nerves (which are actually good to have… you can feed off of them!).
Jonuel: Do you have experience with improvisation and can you tell me about it?
Roxy: I think improvisation is important. I often tend to improvise to add a bit of ‘spice’ to the role, making it mine and unique. In the early stages of casting I think that the script should act as an outline, a shell - and I think our work as the Actor is to connect with the character, and make it ours and bring it to life…. If that means ad-libbing here and there… I’m a huge advocate of that!
Jonuel: Can you please tell our fans about the work you are doing now?
Roxy: I feature in ‘Into the Badlands’, season 2, airing this month..
On to unleash the Blurb, take it away Roxy:
I’m hugely passionate about Drama and passing on my knowledge and love of Drama to the younger generation. I’ve recently started up ‘We love Drama’, private Drama workshops for young budding enthusiasts, and children that would like to have fun and build their confidence.
