Explore Japan’s Hidden Gems: Izu Peninsula | TwoSundowners

BY JAMIE I think I already mentioned it, but Japan was not my favorite country so far. Which was surprising since I had great expectations. Well, for my taste the places we visited were either too urban and depressing or too touristy and stressful. The Izu Peninsula, however, was my favorite place in the whole country. There is just something about it: Quiet with the right amount of past-time, beautiful nature with some charming fishing villages, ocean all around it. From Tokyo you can get to the Izu Peninsula pretty easily and quickly: Take one train to Atami (you might need to switch but there are direct connections) and then take the Ito-Line along the Eastern side of the peninsula. If you have a car you will be completely mobile and able to explore the place freely.
