Foodie in Canada: little gems of Montreal and Ottawa

Hello everyone! Last month we took a trip to Canada and were surprised not only by the beauty of the country but also by the food of Montreal and Ottawa. Today I would like to share with you some places that we absolutely loved: some of them we recommended by locals, some of them were found in the Internet, and others were discovered accidentally. One thing that makes dining in Canada unique: nobody rushes you with the check, you have all the time in the world to just sit and relax. So, if you are planning to visit Canada, please consider these spots to make you trip delicious.

If you are going to Montreal

Café Olimpico  – Italian Coffee shop with excellent quality of coffee, delicious pastry and soccer games on numerous screens.

Boulangerie Les Co’Pains d’Abord – was recommended to us as the best place for croissants and chocolatines.

Mamie Clafoutis – a favorite breakfast spot of locals, so we had to stop by.

Second Cup  – amazing Coffee Shop with divine selection of beverages. We really enjoyed hot chocolate and were surprised by the quality of the food.

Muru Crepes  – cute little restaurant in the downtown of Montreal would be perfect for breakfast: good coffee and delicious food. They are the reason we got addicted to crepes and scones

P.S. yes, I was still carrying another cup of coffee from Cafe Olimpico.

Paris Crepes   More crepes? This place is truly a hidden gem of Montreal.

Jean-talon market   – an open-air market with many vendors selling produce, meats, cheeses, fish & baked goods.

Brasserie Artisanale Dieu Du Ciel   – great place to try local beer (and I enjoyed wine) in a friendly atmosphere. While all the food looked amazing, we went for cheese and veg board.

L’GROS LUXE  – my favorite restaurant in Montreal that serves the best vegetarian poutine alone with decent wine/beer selection, and great brunch menu.

And in Ottawa:

Arlington Coffee  – situated next to Wilf & Ada’s , this coffee shop not only serves good coffee, they also offer so much needed apple cider and hot chocolate.

Wilf & Ada’s  – this diner is a perfect spot for from-scratch breakfast and brunch. Kind of small, so you may need to wait to get a table, but the service was very fast.

The Scone Witch  – we love brunch and brunch loves us! We loved this place not only for the best scones in Ottawa but also for good customer service and friendly staff.

Le Moulin De Provence Byward Market   – this is where the famous “Obama cookies” are sold.

BeaverTails pastry  – this place was recommended by the locals. Apparently, it is must try in Ottawa. Read the story of The BeaverTail, The Canadian Doughnut here.

The Brig Pub  – it would be a shame for such a beer fan as my hubby is not to stop by these pubs.

and

Aulde Dubliner & Pour House  – and while he enjoyed his beers and meats, I had my wine o’clock with a yummy salad.

The Grand Pizzeria and Bar – we had to try pizza and we glad we found this place. It is pretty big, but very popular, so be aware of the wait time.

 I hope you’ll have a delicious adventure!
