Carte Blanche to Tomás Saraceno ON AIR

The new exhibition Carte Blanche to Tomás Saraceno ON AIR at Palais de Tokyo is almost indescribable.  I can articulate about what it is in a bare bones way:  It’s an art exhibit/ science experiment/ and environmental installation.

After experiencing it last week, I can easily describe my reaction: It’s like no other exhibition I’ve ever seen.

Just going from a tip from a friend mine without reading anything about it, I didn’t know what to expect.

The first rooms I entered were black spaces only lit by live spider webs being formed inside open sided vitrines. Looking into the vitrines you witness the ongoing, mesmerizing process of the spiders slowly expanding their web.

The next rooms had ink drawings, videos, and one had glass spheres and bulbs floating from the ceiling and mid-air.

One of the final installations is a complex and intricate series of black wire sculptures in a gargantuan white space, which became a playground for discovery and wonder for adults and children.

Even the description on the Palais de Tokyo website- https://www.palaisdetokyo.com/en/event/carte-blanche-tomas-saraceno- doesn’t exactly pinpoint what the exhibition is about but addresses it as an eco-system existing in human and non-human universes.

The first line of Tomás Saraceno’s bio reads: Tomás Saraceno was born in 1973 in Tucumán, Argentina. He lives and works in and beyond the planet Earth.

Below are photos, which may demystify the exhibit or stump you more, but either way, I hope you appreciate them.
