Travel Bug: The Different Types of Travel Ventures

“For the born traveler, traveling is a besetting vice. Like other vices, it is imperious, demanding its victim’s time, money, energy, and the sacrifice of comfort.”-Aldous Huxley

It has long been considered that traveling is an avenue for reinvigorating the soul and injecting a bit of life into your existence once more.

A lot of things can prompt one to go on a travel excursion—from heartbreak to a celebration, but mostly we do it to treat ourselves. Unfortunately, while traveling might seem so wonderful, not everyone has the luxury of time (and/or finances) to do it. In fact, you would hear many people say that they would love to see the world—just that it does not exactly fit with their lifestyle. Indeed, sporadic and spontaneous travels that occur just out of the blue are not for everyone. In the same vein, neither would long-term travels be. However, while both of these are often the most popular and lauded types of travel, there is a type of travel for every kind of traveler. Indeed, there is a myriad of travel types that it would be inevitable for you to find one that would work well for you and your lifestyle.

Whether you are a smart budget traveler who is always on the lookout for deals in AirBnB or a foodie looking out for your next Pampanga food trip or elsewhere, there is a type of travel for you. Read on to find out what these are:

1.) The Weekend Break

Some people would love to travel but do not exactly have the time to do as they have 9-5 jobs. While you might have paid vacation leaves, these would sometimes be insufficient to cover your entire holiday getaway. So, in lieu of long trips, why not take short ones that commence on Friday evening and return on Sunday evening or Monday morning. Unfortunately, airfare deals during the weekend can be rather expensive. However, if you are patient enough, wait for cheap airfare deals and schedule your flight on a desirable date and time.

2.) The Package Holiday

Package holiday tours and vacation travels are perfect for travelers who do not wish to take care of the nitty-gritty details themselves and leave everything up to the agency. Booking a package holiday means that everything is done for you, all you would really need to do is pick the destinations you wish to visit, and the travel agent will ensure that everything is arranged to your liking. Hardcore backpackers often resent the idea of package holidays seeing as there is more to discover about a city than just its tourist spots. However, when you are a group of six or a family traveling together, having everything taken care of is sometimes the best tack to enjoy your holiday, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with this. However, this is not one of those travels wherein you can get to immerse yourself in a foreign culture or even get to know the locals. It is more of spending a week to revitalize yourself and relax.

3.) The Group Tour

Group tours are perfect for young travelers who just wish to live it up, drink and party all day to a bunch of septuagenarians who just wish to relax and do day tours and everything in between. It does not matter what your interests are, group tours are specifically for those people who want the same thing out of their travels and do not mind mingling with other people. Moreover, your travel itinerary would usually be packed with a myriad of different activities that you will never have a dull moment. One main advantage of this is that you will find yourself in a group of people who would share your interests. In this regard, you can easily make new friends. However, if you are the type of individual who cannot imagine having to stick to an itinerary and having an activity laid out for you or even detest the idea of mingling with other people, then this might not be the travel type for you.

4.) Volunteer travel

This is often called traveling for a cause. Your cause can be a range of things from helping build a school in a third world country to volunteering to work for an animal shelter in a foreign place. In fact, some might say that traveling is only half the fun and the true reward lies in the realization of your cause. Volunteering around the world is seen as one of the most popular types of travel today as not only does it present an avenue to see the world, but it can also be a rewarding experience. However, you need to keep in mind that your endeavors should add value to the community you are visiting.
