Are you busy planning your first Holiday with your baby? It’s hard enough settling on a place to stay for two adults, but factoring in a baby or a toddler can add a whole new list of worries to your plate. Not to worry, we’ve put together a short guide of what to look out for when you’re booking your next break with baby. We’ve also created a checklist with the essential items that you need to take with you when you take your baby on holiday and a suggestion of 5 baby-friendly holiday parks. Easy peasy!

Packing list: what to take on holiday with baby

It can be frustrating going on holiday with your newborn for the first time and realising that there’s absolutely no space to bring your own things! Bringing all the necessary supplies takes a lot of preparation, and allows you to properly relax when you arrive at your destination. Of course, we can’t take away all of the business and chaos that goes with having a newborn, but we’ll do our best! Use this list to check what you need and optimise your chance of a relaxing getaway, baby and all!

What should I look for when booking a holiday cottage?

This may seem obvious, but it’s important to take stock of how far your destination is and how many car breaks/airport-terminal-tantrums you may have to endure. If you want to go abroad and catch some sun and/or culture, we recommend you pop over the border to Holland, Belgium, or France.

The accommodation is also an important factor. A detached holiday cottage might be something to think about, so that there’s no risk of you waking other holiday makers in the night or feeling cramped. We offer many holiday cottages that come equipped with all the necessary tools (cots, high chairs, gates) so you don’t have to worry about lugging them across the border with you. Sometimes the park charges a surcharge for these items and they have a limited supply, so make sure you book them in advance.

The holiday park facilities are also an important factor to consider. Is the swimming pool protected from roaming toddlers? Do they offer daycare facilities? What do the reviews say about the cleanliness of the accommodation? To make things a bit easier, we’ve provided 5 of options below.

Here are our top 5 baby-friendly holiday parks:
