Where to Stay in Huntington Beach: Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach

Why the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach is a Top Pick for Your Family

Huntington Beach, California—Surf City—is a great choice as a family vacation destination or as a romantic getaway for two. The Huntington Beach tourist area is ideally-located southeast (technically) of Los Angeles in the famed locale of Orange County.

Huntington Beach is My Preferred Location on this Stretch of California Coast

A lot of travelers end up trying to decide between staying in Huntington Beach or Newport Beach. Personally, I prefer this area to nearby Newport Beach because the actual beach area is more open (there are no buildings on the beach side of the Pacific Coast Highway) and there is more to do generally speaking. In addition to the impressive sandy beach (over eight miles long and plenty wide), Huntington Beach also has a generous number of local points of interest, including the Huntington Beach Pier (you can pass the time watching the surfers here) and the local tourist area, which is very vibrant and includes the International Surfing Museum.

Newport Beach is not far away, particularly if you have a car. Guests who rent a car will have an even broader array of options in terms of day trips, including Disneyland Resort and even a journey to picturesque Catalina Island, among many other great ways to spend your time.

When visiting Huntington Beach, I highly recommend staying at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach (and no, this is not a sponsored post).

The Hyatt Regency’s bridge to the beach means that you won’t have to worry about trying to navigate through traffic. Very convenient (and a great place to watch the stunning sunsets).

Perfectly Situation in Huntington Beach

The Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach is a AAA Four Diamond resort and spa that is in a great spot along this stretch of California coastline. It is just far enough from the busy area near the pier so that it’s not quite as crowded out front of the hotel, but it’s still close enough to the pier area that you can easily walk back and forth. If you don’t feel like walking, the hotel does offer a convenient shuttle service for guests.

The Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach features a full range of amenities and is located directly on the Pacific Coast Highway facing a very picturesque stretch of Huntington Beach. Hotel guests have easy access to the beach by way of a very convenient bridge over the busy highway (also a great spot from which to watch the nightly sunset, by the way). This makes it super easy to go back and forth to the beach directly from the hotel without having to worry about traffic — a welcome bonus, particularly if you have young kids in tow.

Lots of Activities for Adults and Kids Alike

While the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach is a bona fide luxury resort property, it also has plenty of activities for the kids as well. The hotel features two lagoon style pools (one is more active and includes a separate section with water slides for kids of all sizes) and  there are kids activities as well (Camp Hyatt for Kids), which are held in the grassy courtyard area of the hotel. Our daughter loved participating in the games, for which prizes were awarded to the kids (always a big hit). The property has an impressive five restaurants on site, and features a spa, a gym and much more. If you want to stock up on groceries, drinks or other sundries while you are there, there is a grocery store in a plaza that is walkable from the hotel. There are also drug stores and the like in the commercial area near the pier.

All in all, the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach really feels like a luxury resort hotel. It is expansive, upscale and offers a full range of amenities. Well worth a visit.

The Surf City culture of the area is alive and well at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach.
