How to Upscale a Walt Disney World Vacation

From Ordinary to Extraordinary: This is how you upscale a Walt Disney World vacation

Luxury travel, upscale travel, Deluxe travel…no matter what you call it, there’s no single definition that universally applies to everyone. For me, an upscale or luxury Disney vacation means several things, but mainly it means top tier accommodations and the freedom and flexibility to do things on your own terms without having to wait in lines (at least not for very long).

Like many of the top global vacation destinations, Walt Disney World is very much a pay-to-play destination. It’s not inexpensive at any level, but for those looking to enhance their Disney travel experience, you can dramatically improve how you spend your time, as long as you’re willing to pay the price to do so.

So how do you upscale a Walt Disney World vacation?

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort.

1. You stay in a Deluxe Disney Resort Hotel

Staying at a Deluxe Disney Resort hotel means that you’ll be spending your time within the top tier of Disney accommodations. Within that group, there is a pecking order, with Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa as the undisputed leader. I’ve written a lot of posts about the various choices in the Deluxe Disney category, so please feel free to review those if you want to narrow down your options.

A couple of good places to start are How to Choose the Walt Disney World Resort that’s Best for You and The Top Hotels at Walt Disney World Resort. Or, just book a Club Level Concierge Room at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa and call it a day.

You can cut through the crowds with the help of a VIP Guided Tour.

2. You Pay to Play

Waiting in lines is probably the worst nightmare for most new Disney travelers. Experienced Disney travelers either don’t wait in line, or don’t mind waiting in line (for something they believe to be worth the wait). Experienced Disney travelers will rarely wait more than 15 or 20 minutes tops for any attraction.

But for new Disney travelers, you can burn a lot of time needlessly waiting in lines because you either didn’t have a good plan, you didn’t maximize your FastPass+ usage or you didn’t know that you can choose to pay-to-play.

Pay-to-Play here means coughing up a few thousand dollars to book a VIP Guided Tour of Walt Disney World. Doing this will mean you’ll be privy to the entire expanse of Walt Disney World with an experienced Disney tour guide to lead the way. For this tour, you’re in charge. You’ll go where you want, when you want and whenever you want. So waiting in lines is basically a non-issue and getting unattainable front row seating (without waiting) suddenly becomes attainable.

When you roll like this at Walt Disney World, there isn’t much you won’t be able to see or do, so it’s definitely a premium way to upscale any Walt Disney World vacation.

The Disney Wild Africa Trek is a highly recommended VIP experience.

3. You book a VIP experience or two

Once you Pay to Play, you’ll find that you have extra time on your hands to relax, shop, visit the spa, or lounge by the pool in a private cabana (because you’re spending less time waiting in theme parks). Since you have this extra time, you’ll be given a glorious opportunity to book an exclusive VIP experience or two that will really serve to upscale your Walt Disney World vacation.

Want to learn to surf in a massive wave pool that you have all to yourself? Want to charter a private yacht and the sail the waters of Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake? Or how about going behind the scenes of Kilimanjaro Safari where you can get up close and personal with many of the Park’s natural inhabitants? No matter what type of experience you prefer, there’s a pretty good chance that Disney has a VIP experience just for you.

No upscale Walt Disney World vacation is complete without taking advantage of one of the many VIP experiences offered by Walt Disney World.
