Welcome back to Little Satmar for the 2018 season. We look forward to seeing our holiday home owners once again as well as all our touring and camping visitors.

It was quite wet and windy for us here over the closed period but we still managed to get our planned maintenance Completed in time for opening day last month. The necessary trees were topped, any outstanding repairs and painting were completed and our water feature was moved to the garden near reception.

Last weeks cold snap was a bit of shock as I am sure it was for lots of you. The snow didn’t cause us too many issues but the freezing temperatures did result in a few frozen pipes, like it did to many around the country.

On a more summery note we are proud to announce that we have once again achieved our David Bellamy Gold Award for 2017/18. Our assessors report gave us some good recommendations to keep improving the park, one of which has already been implemented: a small herb garden in the camping/touring field. The other ideas will gradually get introduced over the next few months.

As well as the ongoing focus on the Bellamy Awards we are also planning to develop some wildflower areas for the ‘5 in 5 Years’ habitat scheme. Hopefully they will be in full flower over the summer months to attract a variety of wildlife. Last years hedgerow focus was a success, we measured 1000 metres of wildlife friendly hedging and achieved our Hedgerow Habitat badge.

Lets hope the sun shines soon so we can spend more time outside to fully appreciate the nature right on our doorstep.
