Rockhampton Region

Recently we had to stay in Rockhampton {my birth place} for a Karate Competition. We have been there a few times lately {business and karate} and love our short stays in the Rockhampton Region.

The Saturday night we went to dinner to a Chinese place, we never eat Chinese food unless David makes it cause of the fact we all are allergic to MSG. But we decided to risk it – and yeah we were affected by it.

After wards we walked through the streets – down near the water. There is a new development that the council built and it looks so good.

So loved how the old buildings change colours from pink to yellow to even blue!

Gorgeous old building – Kyle will always look for the date of buildings – he loves to find out the history and how old they are.

Yes He played and got wet in the water fountain. Again it changed colours from pink to blue or yellow or white – this was part of the new development that the Rockhampton Council built – its where the river is and all the small sailing boats are located.

There was heaps of tiny homes up high as a statue – we never did find out why they were made or what they were made for?

Rockhampton is famous for their bulls! They have them every where – around Roundabouts and all over the Rockhampton Region.

We stayed at Discovery Parks in Rockhampton where they had a water Park – Kyle says he is way too old for playgrounds, but I loved that he was still keen to play in the water park

Kyle found this sweet Rock in the Discovery Park Garden Beds – it came all the way from NSW 2880. And funny enough it got sent back to NSW as one of our sons friend is a school teacher and their classroom love Mickey and Minnie – I love that it has the words “Believe” and “Love” on it.

Discovery Park Rockhampton

David booked our accommodation ages ago – when we arrived we were super shocked to see mold on the ceiling, running down the walls and the stove top with oil dripping down the walls from the oven. I knew that I couldn’t sleep in a place that had mold.

We thought we would have to hand back the keys and find another place to stay at – but surprisingly they gave us another room which was in a different location and was way bigger than the room we had originally – it was so clean!

We stayed for less than a week – Kyle had three days of Karate practice and then one day of competition. We didn’t leave straight after the Saturday competition – David booked another night so we could leave on the Sunday! And that way we got to cross off Mt Larcom from our bucket list.

Would we stay at Discovery park again? Yes we would – Kyle had a ball with the other Karate Kids – running around with them. They went from the Water Park, the kids room, to the Trampoline area. And they were safe together. Also loved that the laundry room facilities were close enough and clean.

I worked with clients while there – booked as many Karate Clients as possible either at the competition and then at one of their hotels.

Kyle was really hard on himself – he so wanted to get a First or Second but I was just pleased that he didn’t freeze up and was able to do his kata and sparing.

There is another competition coming up really soon, and again its in Rockhampton but we don’t think we will make that one. But we might try and make the Brisbane one. Next year there is a huge one down on the Goldcoast – if we are able to we will drive down for it – we will see.

We loved our brief stay in the Rockhampton Region – cant wait to see where our travels will take us to next! We try and not plan too far ahead because our plans always change.

Have You Been To Rockhampton?

Cheers

Lisa
