Dynamic Dining, What To Know And How Will It Work?

Last week Royal Caribbean announced it will be introducing a new type of dining for its new ship the Anthem Of The Seas. If you have not read up on this already, there will be 18 restaurants on board this new ship, with the idea of giving the guest total flexibility on when and where to eat.........
Out of the 18 restaurants, 5 are completely free, these include the Grande (Formal dining), Silk (Asian Fusion), American Grill (American Deep South), Chic (Grilled meats and fish) and finally Coastal Kitchen (Although this is a formal venue for suite guests only). On top of these five as usual the Windjammer cafe, pizzeria, two cafe's and a Bistro that is also complimentary.

The remainder of restaurants on board have a cover charge. Like a lot of the newer Royal Caribbean ships, the Anthem Of The Seas has the Chops Grille, Chefs table and Jonny Rockets (Or Seaplex Hot dog House as it is now known). The real excitement though should be held for the three new to brand restaurants. The biggest name has to be Jamie's Kitchen. If you haven't already guessed, Jamie Oliver has a restaurant on board that will be specialising in fine Italian cuisine.

The next restaurant is called Wonderland. The idea is to create a venue based on the Alice In Wonderland world. The chefs here have invented meals based  around Wonderland and the elements (fire, water etc.) which are designed to give the guest the Wow factor.  Ice cream on pork belly  or a magical elixir that whispers "drink me" when you pick it up are a few examples on offer.

Finally, Michaels Genuine Pub is and American Gastro pub, that is brought to you by James Beard award winning chef Michael Swartz. The aim of the restaurant is to create a home away from home feel. A pop gown to your local pub if you like. They will have a vast selection of local and international beers and the food of course will be excellent.

So how is this going to work in practice? The Dynamic Dining replaces the traditional first and second dinner sittings, which from a cruise line point view are a lot easier to arrange. The idea of turning up when you are hungry is a very appealing prospect, but 500 people all turning up at 8 o'clock could mean a wait for table, and on holiday this is not always on. The good news is you can (and it is highly recommended) to pre book all of your meals, prior to departing on your cruise personaliser. Again you can argue you will not know what time you will be hungry in a few moths time, but you can always book to be safe and eat elsewhere on
the day if your stomach tells you too.
