Are we out of the recession?

Being on the phone all day, I get to speak to a lot of people. A very common question that keeps propping up is what's the availability like / shall I book now of wait and see? This subject has been visited many times recently, so are we out of the recession? Are people booking early again?
I can only say they must be. The Cruise lines do not release exact Booking numbers to us, but out of experience and doing this job for 7 years, I have noticed the availably for cabin grades May through September seems to be quite low. Although it can be argued, if the lowest 3 grades are sold out, then there still could be loads of Cabins left in higher grades. However it is usually a good indication things are going well as cruise ships tend to sell out on the cheapest and most expensive cabins first.

Of course there will still be late Availability, as not every ship will be selling exactly the same. The more popular Southampton ships will always tend to go up, especially for 3 / 4 berths. I can say though at this point last year, there seemed to be a lot more cabins about then there are now. I suppose only time will tell if you manage to beat the book early / book late conundrum!
