After a busy week at work booking all of my wonderful customers there future cruise holidays I decided to take a little break myself! I wish it was a cruise also but unfortunately it was just a weekend in the Cotswolds!
Having travelled a large proportion of the world there are still many places in the UK I haven’t visited and I really do need to explore our own country a little more so we took the chance and booked the Cotswolds.
I knew I wanted something relaxing, away from it all and with history, not a modern city hotel like we normally stay in. I set myself the task and scoured the internet and came up with an option, Tortworth Court. It was a 4* hotel, located pretty much in the middle of nowhere, reviews were good and there is a high rated restaurant onsite, perfect!
We decided on a stop at Tewkesbury on the way as it was en route, and had a hot chocolate in the town and a walk along the river and then carried on down to the hotel.
The hotel was impressive! A beautiful old building steeped with history. We found out that the navy trained here just before world war 2 and then during the war the American servicemen were housed at Tortworth Court.
We had a stroll around the beautiful grounds and enjoyed lunch in the bistro.
There is a leisure club and spa on site too.
We had a lazy afternoon before heading to the restaurant located in what sued to be the old library, and enjoyed a 3 course meal and the staff were fantastic!
It’s always worth spending that little bit of time researching before you book, whether it’s a cruise, a holiday or a break in the UK.
All in all a great hotel and I would definitely recommend!
