But before doing that, it is very important to know the important things you need to do when travelling in Boracay.

Monetary Matters

Money is very important especially when you’re travelling to different places far away from your hometown. Be always guided about the exchange rate between Philippine Peso and your local Money currency. Know also the location of these money changers or business establishments in Boracay. Primary example is the Boracay Tourist Center although there some resorts, restaurants, and bars are doing money exchange transactions. Major credit cards are accepted to most Boracay hotels , beaches and resorts, restaurants, and bars. The banks on Boracay are scheduled to open weekdays from 9am to 4pm.

Be vigilant, put your money in a safe private place. Never trust anyone to hold your money nor give other people a hint/idea where to place your money especially if you really don’t know the person very well.

Electrical Voltage

The standard Philippine electric voltage is 220-230 AC volts. To prevent electric shock, please be careful when plugging any appliances at your hotel room. Report immediately when you notice technical abnormalities of the wiring or any electrical apparatus inside your room.

Food and Drinks

Although most restaurants and food stores in Boracay are very strict when it comes to food quality and service maintenance, it is still advisable to check the freshness of your food before eating on it. Boracay has a tropical climate which temperature is more humid and hotter compared to other local places in the Philippines. To avoid extreme body fluid loss and heat stroke under the heat of the sun, one should always bring or intact a bottled mineral water.

Camera and Photography

Aside from cell phone texting, taking pictures and photo shoot is what the Filipinos are fun doing for. Most Pinoys are so obsessed with camera but there’s nothing wrong with that if you just follow its proper usage.

Bear in mind that there are also people get easily irritated with the camera flash on especially the elders. We should learn how to respect other people by not taking those photo shoots anywhere we want to in public places but instead doing it to a right place.

Emergencies/Hotlines

It is very important that you have listed the numbers of government authorities or personnel. The Boracay police station hotline is available 24/7. There are also barangay tanods roving around the place during night time to ensure safety.

Don’t forget to exercise the precautionary safety measures on yourself and always double check the necessary safety equipments and gears when doing your adventure sports and fun rides.
