Step #1 - Going to a website that deals with hotels
The best website for booking hotels are the ones that will not ask you to book any airfare or rental cars. The hotel sites that you want to deal with are the ones that only deal with hotels because they are easier to use and will give you a much better deal on your rate. The best one that I have found for this is called Hotels by City.
Step #2 - Searching for your hotel
When you book a room in a hotel online you start by entering in your destination and the dates that you will be checking in and checking out. Once you have done this you can press the search button to get a list of hotels in that area. They usually come up sorted by the most popular choices on the site, but you can change that to the rating or price by clicking on the tabs at the top of the page.
