Ever hear of a concorde, the insanely fast flying British-French jets that flew like flash? Well, Boeing is now working on a hypersonic plane which will be faster than the concorde. Boeing wants to make a passenger plane that can shuttle customers around the globe at five times the speed of sound.

Boeing says the jet could get you anywhere in the world in just one to three hours. With top speeds exceeding 3,800 miles per hour, the trek from New York to London, for example, could take 120 minutes. Currently the trip takes around seven hours. Boeing is the largest aircraft manufacturer in the world and according to the company, the Concept Plane will have ‘military applications’.

It will be able to fly at a speed of Mach 5, which is approximately five times the speed of sound! To give you a perspective, NASA’s space shuttle travelled at Mach 25 while re-entering the Earth from its orbit. The Concept is still in its nascent stage and could take a while before it becomes a reality. “Developments takes years to complete, and even more so with a technology that requires additional testing and refinement as we work to understand how it might fit into the market place,” the spokesperson said in an interview. The idea of the concept was shared by the company at the 2018 Aviation and Aeronautics Forum , which was hosted by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. As far as super sonic travel is concerned, NASA is already working on a plan, as per reports. Also, Virgin Galactic and Boom are working together on a super sonic travel aircraft.

The general delta-wing will have a configuration of dual rear fins, a streamlined fuselage, and a will have a very sharp nose. We are currently at a stage where technology is growing at a rapid stage and is opening doors to many avenues. The future looks super exciting right now!
