Emirates Airlines Is Testing Windowless Planes With Virtual Windows Now!

Emirates Airlines is one of the biggest and also a super comfortable airline company. The major carrier surpised a lot of people when it announced that windowless plans could actually be the future and in fact, Emirates is currently testing Virtual Windows in their first class cabin seats.

The airline carrier unveiled first-class cabin suites with virtual windows with thick glasses instead of proper windows. However, if you’re wondering that you won’t be able to see anything at all then no, that is not exactly how it will feel or look like. Basically there will be a projector system in place where imagery will keep changing courtesy the fibre-optic cameras which will be attached outside the plan.

Now the obvious question that comes to your mind is that why on Earth is this happening and what will it do, right? Apparently, this will make the plane become lighter in size (the glass has weight!), more structurally sound, and even more fuel- efficient. However, a major question that is being tackled right now is how the flight attendants see outside the windows since that is why we are asked to pull up our blinds when the plane is landing.

Emirates new Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft already has these windowless first-class cabin suites. So it means that seats in the middle also now have virtual windows. A set of three panels have been mounted in every center suite of the aircraft.

The European Aviation Safety Agency has given its nod to this idea and actually sees no harm in testing and eventually putting it into practice. Many aviation experts around the world are currently debating over this move and weighing the pros and cons of the same.
