China’s Ghost Village That Is Being Eaten Up By Plants Is Shocking The World

China might be high on population and technology but one small Village in the county is surprising everyone in the world with what is happening over there. A fishing village called ‘Houtouwan’ is and it is currently blanketed with insane amount of greenery , so much that you cannot see anything else actually . Around the year 1990, more than 2,000 fishermen families called it their ‘home’ until they had to migrate to Shanghai for survival and money. Apparently the houses and the village were evacuated just like that, with the infrastructure all intact.

The empty houses were eventually covered in vines, since the roofs and the walls started falling down. Today, hardly a handful of people stay in the village and mostly rely on seeling water to tourists for as their income source. Even though the village is now abandoned, ironically it attracts a lot of tourists.

To reach ‘Houtowan’ , one needs to take a bus from Shanghai and then a ferry which takes you there. You can then hike your way up, click pictures or buy some fresh catch of the local sea food that the vendors sell over there. It is astonishing to see the role that Mother Nature can play when it comes thriving in full glory. The village might give an eerie look at night, but during the day it gives a beautiful view of the fauna which is in full glory.

The local authorities have now started charging a 50 Yen entrance fee to experience this gorgeous Ghost town. The people who stay here also play the role of the local guides for tourists. One thing which you will need to remember if you ever plan on visiting it is the fact that travel is crazy here. It can sometimes take you around 36 hours to reach here, but for nature and adventure enthusiasts, it will all be worth it!
It is truly a sight to behold and a nature marvel which is unlike any other in the world. So if you ever need a good plan for something that is offbeat, try coming here , understand their culture and experience the remains of a history that s preserved in this ghost town.
