Rated as the “World’s Best Island” for the year of 2016 and 2017, the island of Palawan has to be your next place-to-be on your bucket list. From buried caves and secret beaches to adrenaline pumped activities, Palawan is a must-to-visit for all the travel-helices out there! #1 - ISLAND HOPPING For those of us who don’t know what island hopping means – it involves taking a small boat to different islands in the same area and stopping there to snorkel in the open waters while viewing the beautiful island as well as spending some quality time on the isolated beaches. Palawan is quite famous for island hopping and is one of the best destination in Philippines. Indulging yourself in these tours is easy. Either you opt for an island hopping tour in your package or upon visiting the island, inform your hotel accommodation and they will arrange it for you. But, we recommend you to choose the tour inclusive of the island hopping tour as it could be expensive if purchased locally, just in case you end up traveling during the peak season. #2 – BEACHES There are simply too many beautiful places in Philippines and the beaches are endless! Each beach with its unique features. Some with pure white sanded beaches and the others with rows of palm trees with huge coconuts that you can drink. Plan and hang out on the beaches and enjoy the plentiful sunshine. Each sunset has its own way of depicting beauty and is absolutely stunning. Tip: Avoid visiting the beaches during the weekends, especially Saturdays and Sundays. #3 – AFFORDABILITY You can live your life as a king or a queen here because it is incredibly affordable. Beers and meals will not cost you a thick wallet. The local tours and accommodation is also considered cheap. #4 – UNDERGROUND RIVER This is one of the Philippines top attractions and undoubtedly the underground river on the Palawan Island is probably one of the reasons why too many tourists flock here. The underground river is just a long cave that allows visitors to enter by the boat with flash lights. This place is damp dark and is filled with bats that gives an interesting look at the living, breathing interior of the cave. It is not only a UNESCO World Heritage Site but also one of the 7 Wonders of the world. #5 – CULTURE AND LOCALS A big part of any tourist destination is its people. Apart from the beauty that is evidently reflected in the attractions, Palawan is also beautiful because of its people. The island of Palawan is home to few tribal groups who live all around the island, each having their own language and customs. An extremely down to earth nature of the Filipinos will just keep making you happy, always. It’s just a part of their culture to always be kind and happy. TRAVEL ADVICES: • Visit Palawan during the months of November to May. • Carry light cotton clothing and pack light clothes. • Getting to Palawan is easy. You can take a flight from Manila to Palawan town and then you are free to explore the island either by walking or taking motorcycles or jeepney rides. • A small conservation fee of $4 (PHP 200) per person is collected by your accommodation for every night you stay. The fee goes to the El Nido Protected Area Management Board.
