Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN), an umbrella organization of nepal Trekking companies is to oganize a high altitude international marathon in Langtang Valley as third TAAN International Langtang Marathon on May 19, 2018 with the slogan of the event is 'Adventure Sports for Sutainable Tourism'.

TAAN has initiated the event since 2016, just a year after the massive earthquake in April 25, 2015. The marathon will cover approximately 42.195 kilometers commencing from Kyanjin Gompa (3,870m) in Langtang National Park to ending at Syabrubeshi passing Godha Tabela, Lama Hotel, Rimche, Sherpagon, Khangjim, Bridhim and Lingling.

Accoring to TAAN, there will be over 100 Nepali and foreigners to participate in marathon in both male and famale categories.

NRs. 1,05,000, NRs. 78,750 and NRs. 52,500 have been allocated as prizes for the top three runners under both male and female category.

Third edition of TAAN International Langtang Marathon is being promoted by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). Similarly, Rasuwa- Nuwakot Tourism Society, Unique Adventure & Group: Triple A Holidays, Triple A Transport, International Charter Heli Service, Nepal Climbing Adventure; Paramount Tent & Tarpaulin Enterprises, Hotel Park Side (Chitwan National Park), Satori Adventure Pvt. Ltd, Langtang Ri Trekking & Expedition Pvt. Ltd, Snowy Horizon Treks & Expedition Pvt. Ltd, Tenjin Eco Trek P. Ltd, Gosaikunda Rural Municipality, among others are the supporters for Third TAAN International Langtang Marathon. Third edition of TAAN International Langtang Marathon will be supported by local government, organizations and media.

Registration fee for Langtang Marathon is NRs 2500 for Nepali citizen and $75 for foreign citizen.

Langtang trekking is the third most popular trek in Nepal after Everest Base Camp and Annapurna trekking and most visited short trek near Kathmandu valley. The trekking is popular for amazing culture, landscapes, beautiful snow-capped peaks, sacred lakes, flora and fauna.

Over 300 people including 80 foreign trekkers had lost their lives in Langtang region alone in the devastating earthquake of April 2015

Me Saroj Bhattarai, founder and blogger of Trekking Buzz, would like to congratulate TAAN for the successful holding of Third edition of TAAN International Langtang Marathon. The mega event like this would definitely push the Nepali Tourism into a height among the international market and this will be an milestone to promote Langtang Trekking region after the massive Earthquake to increase the number of trekkers to that region.

Nepal Government and Tourism Board has already announced 2020 as the "Nepal Visit Year". On this perspective, we can see there are lots of things that need to fix for the sustainable tourism and the infrastructure of quality tourism is not yet set. The security (tourists as well as trekking guides/porters) problems are still there to address, need to make safe flight to Himalayas and branding of Nepal tourism in international market is needy.
