Where is Mount Everest?


Mount Everest is the world's highest mountain peak measured from sea level. It lies on the border of Nepal and Tibet, with the different routes to summit. Mount Everest is known as Sagarmatha in Nepali and Chomolungma in Tibetan. Located in the mahalangur section of the Himalayas, Mount Everest official elevation is 8,848m confirmed by a Chinese survey in 1975.

Tibetans call the Mount Everest as Mt. Qomolangma which means Qomo (the Goddess) and Langma (the third) in tibetan. Known as the highest mountain in the world, Mount Everest is regarded as the Goddess Mother of mountains for Tibetan. Climbing Mount Everest is challenging through Tibet due to complecated weather and climatic conditions.

Mount Everest is named as Sagarmatha in Nepali and climbing via south base camp is popular among climber in the world. Everest Base Camp trekking is the popular trekking route in Nepal. For this, trekkers will fly from Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport to Lukla Airport and commences few days trekking to Everest Base Camp.
