Elephanta Island will now be connected to Mumbai by India’s Longest Ropeway

This news has come from Mumbai that MbPT (Mumbai Port Trust) is going to construct a 8 km long ropeway system over the Arabian Sea, that will connect Mumbai to Elephanta island located in Raigad district. Mr. V.R. Jogalekar, spokesperson for Mumbai Port Trust (MbPT) said that This transport system will be India’s longest ropeway over the sea and the project can take a minimum of 3 years of time to actually land on the ground after proper discussion and plan . The proposed ropeway will present a spectacular view of the shallows on the eastern coastline to the visitors particularly during the season when flamingos come out along with mangroves and the Mumbai Trans Harbor Link toward the north.

As indicated by the MbPT, the ride ought to take around 40 minutes, directing a 20-seater cable lift that will have also an en-route station. Currently, approx 5,000 inbound and domestic tourists visit the Elephanta island that is meagrely possessed, with most occupants being agriculturists and fishermen.
