The Secret to Money, Relationships, Health, & World (Book Summary of THE SECRET)

🙏 Note: This is a continuation of my previous post - LAW OF ATTRACTION SIMPLIFIED If you’ve not yet read, please check it out (link). You'll get an overview of what the Law of attraction is, and a short summary of the first 4 chapters of "The Secret" by Rhonda Byrne.

Chapter 5: The Secret to Money

In this chapter, Byrne advises how the law of attraction can help to attract wealth.

She recaps the life of Jack Canfield – creator of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series. Jack was brought-up with the beliefs such as “Money is an evil” and “money doesn’t grow on trees.” Consequently, he had no wealth for more than half of his life, until he met the motivator W. Clement Stone.

Stone guided him to Focus on positive things and helped to visualize what he would want to achieve. As a result, we all got the Chicken Soup for the Soul, and Jack Canfield got his 1st million$ check👏.

Byrne offers some pieces of advice & tips:

  • To attract money, you must focus on wealth. It is impossible to bring more money into your life when you focus on the lack of it.
  • It is helpful to use your imagination and make-believe that you already have the money you want. This will make you feel better about money, as you feel better about it, more will flow into your life. Byrne even recommends print/fill a blank check and visualize the fortune what we want.
  • Another way to attract wealth is to give some away! The thought of “I have enough money to give away” will bring more of it.

Chapter 6: The Secret to Relationships

In this chapter, Byrne speaks about how LOA can help in relationships. She says,
  • When you want to attract a relationship, make sure your thoughts, words, actions, and surroundings don’t contradict your desires. Unless you fill yourself up first, you have nothing to give anybody.
  • Treat yourself with love and respect, and you will attract people who show you love and respect. Focus on the qualities you love about yourself and the law of attraction will show you more great things about you.
  • To make a relationship work, focus on what you appreciate about the other person, and not your complaints. When you focus on the strengths, you will get more of them.

Chapter 7: The Secret to Health

The author refers to Dr. John Demartini, who describes that the “placebo effect” is an example of the law of attraction in action. When a patient truly believes the tablet is a cure, he receives what he believes and is cured.

It’s important to properly diagnose and go for treatment; but at the same time when the sickness is not that big (if you are feeling a little unwell), Byrne says, “better don’t talk about it!”. Constantly thinking about your illness & pain will make you further sick. Instead, concentrate on something positive, something that can bring new energy to you!

Chapter 8: The Secret to the World

The whole chapter can be briefed with a simple quote: “What you resist persists.”

Resisting to something means, you’re eventually pouring more & more energy into the very same thing that you don’t want. Thinking about the bad side will actually create more images/ visualizations/frequencies of the same into your mind - that will eventually strengthen the events that you feared for.

Byrne says this is the reason why sometimes we see bad leaders win elections. It’s because all the people’s thoughts were focused around that bad leader (instead they should have thought more about the good person that they wanted to win).

The secret is to realize what we don’t want and then focus on the opposite. Instead of anticipating a war and the disasters it brings, we must focus on positive changes. Byrne shares the below quote of Mother Teresa:

Chapter 9: The Secret to You

Byrne says that “everything is energy”. Every human is an energy magnet, so you electrically energize yourself to everything you want.

She also quotes “The first law of thermodynamics” which states that “energy can neither be created nor destroyed; energy can only be transferred or changed from one form to another.” Therefore, an unlimited supply of knowledge, ideas, and opportunities are already available all over the universe; we just have to transfer/change them into fortunes/ discoveries/inventions.

Byrne follows up by reminding readers to always be aware of our own thoughts. When the mind is left to run wild, it allows all kinds of thoughts (including negative ones). So it’s important to stop every now & then and ask, “What am I thinking now? What am I feeling now?”. This will refine your thoughts into a correct direction you want to move on.

Chapter 10: The Secret to life

The last chapter is kind of a concluding note/summary. Byrne says, “you get to fill the blackboard of your life with whatever you want.” If there are negative things or baggage from the past written on it, you can wipe it clean and write on it again.
