Surf Spots in Victoria

Surf Spots In Victoria

Victoria is home to some of the best surfing in Australia. From Bells Beach to Gunnamatta, the surf’s always up somewhere! We’ve put together a list of some of the best surf beaches in Victoria.

Bells Beach

If you’re a serious surfer then Bells Beach (known as ‘Bells’) is for you. Home to the Rip Curl Pro Surf comp, the reliable swell is located in Torquay, the birthplace of some of the world’s most iconic surf labels including Rip Curl and Quicksilver and referred to as the surf capital of Victoria.

Thirteenth Beach

Located on the Bellarine Peninsula, Thirteenth Beach is one of Geelong’s closest surf beaches. With a 4.5km stretch of beautiful coast line, this beauty is appropriate for both learner and advanced surfers! Even if you’re not into Surfing, you can enjoy a relaxing beachside stroll or check out any number of the epic cafes around the area.

Fairhaven, Great Ocean Road

This beautiful beach is definitely one of the best beaches in Victoria… and not just for surfing! It stretches across a glorious 6km and produces consistent waves with an average of 5 feet so needless to say when the surf is up, it isn’t for the faint-hearted!

Mornington Peninsula

Surfers on the Mornington Peninsula are really spoiled for choice. There are surf breaks around every corner with waves suitable for everyone from beginners to pros. A few favourites include Point Leo (Crunchies), Gunnamatta and Portsea Back Beach! Aside from its incredible surf culture, the Peninsula is also home to many amazing wineries and breweries as well as scenic walking trails!

Portland

Portland is located on the far south-west coast and is about a 4 hour drive from Melbourne or a 1 hour drive from Mt Gambier. Its vibe is relaxed and peaceful making it the perfect stop-over location if you’re driving from Melbourne to Adelaide. As well as being relaxed and scenic, Portland has many great surfing spots in the area. Black Nose Point is one of our top pics for all surfing levels.
