Rural Kitchen of Liliw Laguna

Life has been very busy lately so moments like this are precious. Yvette and I were able to hit two birds in one stone last week -- a catch up and a new foodie find!

I admit, I found the restaurant in a "trending" article around the web. It just got me interested because it's very near our office.

The Place

First of all, Rural Kitchen of Liliw Laguna is not in Liliw, Laguna. It is in 104 Rada St HRC Centre Legaspi Villaga, Makati City. Yes, Makati.

Don't know where it is? Me too. If you're in Makati, you won't really know what the buildings are called. But, if you've been there long enough, you would know the place if someone describes them to you. So let me rephrase that -- Rural Kitchen of Liliw Laguna is located in Rada street where the worst Shakey's branch used to be, which is now Planter's Bank. It is in the building with steps. Got it? Haha.

So anyway, RKLL was able to setup their business on the small space beside the bank. But don't be too upset because it is not cramped at all. Although, if you are big group, you might want to call them up first for reservation.

During the small chat with their servers, I learned that RKLL just opened three months ago. This is probably the reason why it's not crowded when we got there. In fact, only a foreign couple was dining. Give it a few more months, I am sure it will be popular and bustling with Makati yuppies.

The Food

For starters, we got their famous Pako Salad and requested it to be divided for two. All the while, I thought Pako is the local translation of seaweeds but Ate (argh, sorry I forgot to note her name) said it's not and it's actually an edible fern. Okay.

RKLL Pako Salad =  Pako + Singkamas (i think) + Kesong Puti + Vinegrette = Yummy!

For the main course, we got another RKLL favorite, Pork Adobo! I am a bit particular about Adobo because there's so many ways of cooking it but Yvette and I both agreed that this one is really good. It doesn't have the sauce but the salty and sour flavor blends perfectly with the pork.. and its fat.. which is very yummy!

How I wish I could bring this to Sydney and bring this to my team! This is what Pinoy adobo is, not the one we brought for our team's International Lunch. Haha.

The Visit

So I'd say it's a good choice for us to pick this place for our quick catch up. The food didn't took long to get out, the serving is just right, and the ambiance is very comfortable. I would definitely go back to this place to try their other offerings.

Rural Kitchen of Liliw Laguna is the kind of place where you would bring your foreign guests and business partners or balikbayan family to have a taste of what traditional Filipino cuisine is like.
