St. Xavier’s feast is celebrated every year on 3rd of December.St. Francis Xavier was a Catholic missionary during the Portuguese era. The Feast is performed to honour his death. Believers from all over the world come over on large scale.
Every ten years the casket is brought down and taken into a procession around Old Goa. Church services begin as early as 4 am and people come together in huge numbers to revere this beloved saint.
The pilgrimage turns out to be a picnic for many families that come across the borders. A wide array of food and drinks are available for the people to enjoy.
