There are a total 14 carriages with various cabin occupancies and types. The interiors of these cabins are done in regal furnishings and ancient portraits of old rulers. There are tapering wall hangings, mirror work, royal fabric and exquisite prints used on the decor. This gives the guests a feel of the king’s lifestyle of those times.
They are also named after the various regions of Rajasthan that were ruled by great kings. Carriages include Bar & Lounge, 2 lavish dining cars, a mini – pantry, souvenir collection, and guest cabins are equipped with large windows that give a panoramic view of the scenery.

The Palace on Wheels provides guests with luxurious facilities on the tours to make them comfortable. The 2 restaurants serve Continental, Chinese, and Indian cuisine. The bar is stocked well with domestic & international and offers an electric mix of cocktails if required. There are washrooms equipped with all necessary amenities and toiletries. Cabins also provides a writing desk for guests.

The Indian Railways runs the World’s Leading Luxury Train was first introduced in March 2010. The primary goal to start a company called – Royal Indian Rail Tours for the operations was eliminated a year later, in 2011 after which it is now operated by the Indian Railways. This train is the first luxury train in India to have a dedicated carriage completely for a magnificent Presidential Suite – Navratna. The other guest carriages are divided into Suite, Jr. Suite & Deluxe Cabins that are named after precious stones. The complete train offers lavish facilities in royal ambiance boasts of wall hangings, mirror work, wall to wall carpeting, and great decor. All the carriages including the Presidential Suite can totally accommodate 88 members onboard.
All cabins of Maharajas Express train are fully air conditioned and have various occupancies to select from. The washrooms are equipped with all necessities including WC, wash basin, shower cubicle & a bath tub in the en-suite washroom in Presidential Suite .

The tours of the Maharajas Express train begin at Delhi or end at Delhi. However, there are some travel tours that start and end at Delhi. Background of The Deccan Odyssey
The Deccan Odyssey is a great luxury trains started on the tracks of Palace on Wheels. It tours the western coastline and tours significant parts of Maharashtra & Goa. This train objective is to provide 5-star facilities to guests onboard. The train stopped operations for over a year from 2004 but later resumed. There are a total of 20 carriages and 11 guest carriages. This luxury train has 2 Presidential Suites each having two coupes. The interior decor of these passenger saloons are done up in a lavish elegance. Coaches are equipped with two dining cars, a bar & lounge car, gymnasium and beauty spa area and an amazing conference car with great visual display that converts into a dance floor by night.
A special coach is available for the physically handicapped. The coaches of the Deccan Odyssey provides guests with an amazing onboard experience.

Guests are treated to sumptuous meals of Continental and Indian Cuisine in the two onboard dining cars.
