Nomadik Subscription Box Review

Nomadik contacted me last month about reviewing their Subscription Box and I jumped at the chance. I have always been weary about all these different subscription boxes. I mean, do they really send stuff you can use or do they send junk?

Before I get into my review, let’s talk about the company and box itself.

About The Nomadik

The Nomadik is a monthly subscription box for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. Each box contains up to 6 items with a minimum value of $45 with a goal of $50 per box.

They offer a 30 Day Money-Back Guarantee which will allow you to send an item you already have or don’t like back and they will swap it free of charge, you don’t even need to send it back.

The gear that is sent is picked just for you. You will complete your profile when you signup which helps them tailor the gear to your interests. You will get 3-6 unique high-quality gear items from premium brands.

Each box costs $32.95 for the monthly plan which saves you roughly $12-17 versus buying the items individually. You can also choose the 6 month or 12 month plan for even more savings. Investing in the 12-month plan will only cost you $29.99 per box (billed yearly).

My Thoughts

Obviously I was exited to get the chance to review one of these subscription box services. Even more so the fact that it was Nomadik, which I have heard a lot about!

Feel free to watch my unboxing below along with my review, or you can just read about it below the video.

My box contained three items and was named the Happy Camper. In it was a UCO Gear Hundred Headlamp, Colter Co. Forager Bandana with Insect Shield, and a 2oz bottle of Double Mint Castile Soap by Sierra Sage.

The actual cost of items: After research the total value of the items came to $46.36 or $49.36 with shipping. The headlamp I found on amazon prime for $24.69. The Castile Soap I found on Amazon Prime in a 4 pack of 2 oz bottles for $14.65 which comes to $3.67 a bottle, and the bandana was found on the Colter Co website for $18 plus shipping charges.

My initial thought: Wow, this is it!? I will say that I did not fill out any questionnaire or profile like you typically would when you order since this was sent to me to review. Hopefully, if I had I would have received something more meant for me; or even if I hadn’t I would be able to send this box back for a refund or have them replace the items that I already have, such as the headlamp.

I am pretty blown away that a bandana costs $18 and while I appreciate that it has tips on how to identify edible plants on it, I still would never be able to justify spending $18 on this! But to each their own I guess. Then again, had I never received this box I also wouldn’t have known about this company (which has some pretty cool items on their website that I would actually use). Plus, this just gave me something that I normally would not buy. That is the cool thing about subscription boxes!

The soap is not something I would use either, while hiking at least, due to the fact that it has a scent to it. However, I do plan on using it around the house and while camping in the RV.

The good thing is that Nomadik offers a money-back guarantee so I could send this entire box back for a full refund if I had paid for it (which I didn’t).

The good news for my readers is it looks like I will have items to use for an upcoming giveaway since I have no use for them!

My overall impression: While I wasn’t too excited about the items I received, I also know that they were sent without any “profile” being done on me. I have seen friends who have had past boxes and know that the items that are sent typically are items that are useful.

Overall, I would love to give this subscription box a try for at least 3 months to see what type of gear I get after setting up my own profile. I also wouldn’t mind receiving a subscription as a birthday present (my birthday in next month by the way, cough cough).

It definitely wasn’t filled with junk, which has always kept me from ordering a subscription box. It just so happened that there was only 1 item in this box that I would actually use (the soap). Again, I am still shaking my head at an $18 bandana. I feel for that price I should frame it and display it as artwork lol. I am scared to use it, haha.
