We caught up with Deborah Brooks, a Running mom and founder of Confessions of a MotherRunner, to find out more about her blog. From the DC/Virginia area, Deborah is known for sharing running tips, delicious vegetarian recipes, and effortless ways for busy moms to make healthier choices. As a coach, blogger and leader of several community groups, Deborah loves to inspire the next generation of female runners. Read on to learn more about her.

Tell us about yourself

As a Moms Run This Town chapter leader, Girls on the Run coach, and busy mom, my blog is a natural extension of my passion for healthy living, running and fitness. As a lifelong vegetarian, I love to share my passion for healthy meatless living. Each week I host a popular Meatless Monday linkup where I share some of my favorite original recipes. I believe healthy eating does not have to be difficult. So, I offer suggestions on meal creation and planning for busy moms.

I enjoy training for and competing in running races, cycling events and triathlons. You will frequently find me training, writing, and sharing running tips with my mom crew. You don’t have to be fast or even good to have fun competing in races. That’s what my Moms Run This Town group is all about.

What got you blogging?

Blogging is a natural extension of my Moms Run This Town group and a way for me to share my passions of healthy eating, fitness and everyday fashion. I find inspiration and motivation for myself through my writing and hope that others find a way to connect and share their goals.

What is the most popular topic on your site?

My Meatless Monday vegetarian recipes are quite popular. I love the challenge of taking classic combinations and making them healthier and at the same time easy to prepare on a weeknight. I am passionate about my Moms Run This Town group and love to share posts about our activities. I also offer workout ideas for do-at-home challenges with minimal equipment, perfect for busy moms.

Who do you write for?

I write mostly for moms who are working on being the best they can be by balancing their time and trying to fit it all in. Busy moms are looking for tips and tricks on fitting in their runs and workouts, getting nutritional meals on the table and balancing the demands of work and motherhood.


About Deborah Brooks

Successfully married and raising 2 teens in the VA/DC area, I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a lifelong vegetarian, I’ve always been passionate about healthy living and exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 600 members. I’ve met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew exchanging running tips and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into.

As an RRCA Certified Run Coach, I am fortunate to be a Girls on the Run Coach for the 3rd year. Each week I create original vegetarian recipes to share on my Meatless Monday link up. I am constantly looking for ways to tweak recipes and make them cleaner and healthier for my family.
