What to expect at WWDC 2018: Dates, Facts and Rumours

It’s official. Apple Wwdc 2018 is taking place on June 4. The company has sent invitations to journalists, confirming the date, time and place of this year’s WWDC event. But what shall we expect to see at Apple’s WWDC Keynote?

When will WWDC 2018 take place?

This years Worldwide Developer Conference will be held from 4 to 8 June 2018 in San Jose. The Keynote will be taking place at 4 June at 10am (PT).

The Facts

Every year at WWDC, Apple unveils their latest software updates for all their products. For this reason, it is certain that we’ll be seeing minor or major updates to iOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS.

Although this year Apple has decided to focus on security and performance updates, this doesn’t mean that the new software is going to be boring. On the contrary, we expect to see further integration of their augmented reality features, a fresh user interface redesign and more. One thing I’m certain we’re going to be seeing more of, are animojis. Animojies EVERYWHERE.

The Rumours

There are plenty of rumours for this year’s WWDC. Perhaps the most exciting one is that of iPhone SE 2. Many sites claim that Apple will be announcing a refreshed version of their “budget” iPhone. A new iPhone SE seems possible, taking into account how long it has been since Apple has announced the original SE.

Rumours have it that we’re also going to be seeing a new iPad Pro. Hypothetically speaking, we’re expecting to see a total redesign of the iPad Pro, without a notch and a display similar to that of iPhone X. If that’s the case, it’s fair to assume that features like FaceID and animojies are going to make their way into the latest iPad Pro.

Finally, Apple Air Power is expected to be announced at this years Keynote. This multi-device wireless charger was introduced alongside iPhone X in September 2017 and was said to be released in 2018. For this reason, WWDC 2018 seems like a perfect time to unveil Air Power and announce when it’s going to hit the shelves.

The above are rumours that have been circulating the tech community for a while now, but surely there could be more to the event that we haven’t seen coming. Only one way to find out. Stay tuned for Apple’s WWDC 2018. See you then.
