OnePlus 5 Spotted on Chinese Regulation Site: Report

OnePlus is rumoured to launch its upcoming flagship as the OnePlus 5 and skip the number 4 moniker. The number 4 is considered unlucky in Chinese culture so skipping the series sounds a wise decision. However, the company has not put a word whether the next flagship killer will be OnePlus 5. Now, a new OnePlus smartphone has recently spotted on China’s Radio Regulation Authority which hints the upcoming mobile will be dubbed as OnePlus 5.

Previously, the upcoming OnePlus model was spotted on AndroidPure with a Model Number A5000 which was said to the OnePlus 5. The previous OnePlus 3 comes with a model number A3000, while the OnePlus 3T carry A3010 model number. Hence, the model number A5000 could be the OnePlus 5.

OnePlus mobiles will release the new device sometime in the Q2 of 2017. However, there are already plentiful of leaks and rumours around the smartphone. The OnePlus 5 is expected to feature a 5.5-inch 2K (1080×2048 pixels) display powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of internal storage.

For the camera requirements, the OnePlus 5 will offer a 23MP primary rear camera with flash, zoom, and optical image stabilisation. Up front, it will have a 16MP selfie snapper.

The previous reports about OnePlus 5 claimed that the smartphone will feature a dual-edged screen (like Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge), slimmer bezel, and hardware navigation keys. The OnePlus 5 is also expected to feature a ceramic body design similar to the Xiaomi Mi Mix. The smartphone is rumoured to be priced under $500 (Rs 32,500). The current flagship device, the OnePlus 3T is available for Rs 29,999 right now which means, the upcoming mobile could be slightly expensive.

The OnePlus 5 is likely to offer a 4000mAh battery with company’s Dash Charge tech support. The device will run on Android 7.1 Nougat OS with OxygenOS running on top. Along with the 8GB RAM option, the OnePlus 5 is also rumoured to get launched in 6GB RAM and onboard storage variants of 64GB and 128GB. Furthermore, the device will allow storage expansion up to 256GB via microSD card.
