After Uber, Lyft launches premium black cars as part of Lux and Lux SUV

After Uber, Lyft is joining the ranks of cab aggregators providing their customers with high-end, premium vehicles. The company is planning a staggered roll out for the service, beginning with 5 markets. The roll-out will continue, until the service reaches the 20 markets Lyft operates in.

Called Lyft Lux and Lux Suv, these services comprise of black, premium cars. Uber does something very similar so Lyft could have taken its inspiration from its bigger rival. The company is debuting the service in Chicago, LA, NYC, SF and San Jose, which are all top-notch cities with a greater chance of customers opting or premium rides as compared to price conscious markets.

While the customer end remains pretty much the same, the drier end has a significantly higher list of requirements. For instance, your car must not be earlier than a 2011 model and must have a pristine black exterior. Also, you should have leather or simulated leather seating inside and should be able to seat at least 5 people in comfort.

The requirements for Lux SUV are pretty much the same except that, drivers will need to bring cars that can seat 6 or more people. The fares will obviously higher but that won’t be a concern for the consumers Lyft is targeting through its service.
