Apple ‘officially’ unwraps the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus

So despite Apple leaking the iPhone7 and 7 Plus via twitter, we’ve all been waiting for the company to give some new tech to us. Well, Apple is extolling the virtues of the device even as we speak and in all fairness, it appears to have been well worth the wait. Let’s take a look at the latest — and according to Apple, the best — Iphone. Meanwhile catch all the latest updates from the event at our live blog right here.

Okay so there is a lot to tell and we want to get all this to you as soon as possible. So lets jump right to it.

First off, the design of the new iPhone is hands down fabulous. Apple hasn’t really messed much with the body, choosing to keep the same essential device as last year’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S. However, the design aspect has still been taken to another level entirely.

For one, the devices are insanely shiny. Apple has apparently used a brand new manufacturing process that involved spinning the iPhones through sand and the result is a glimmering device that actually is hard to take your eyes from. However, if you want something more subtle, you can opt for just black as well.

The rumors were true after all and the 3.5 MM headphone jack is gone. However, the result is an iPhone that is thinner than ever. Instead, Apple has provided users with a lighting to 3.5 mm convertor that can let you plug those headphones in using the iPhone’s charging port.

Meanwhile, the Home button is gone too and has instead been replaced with the same tech that was deployed in Mac devices. Instead of the home button, you get the newly introduced taptic touch technology that is also used the newly released Macbooks.

The new iPhones are also water and dust resistant, meaning that you can take them for a ride in the desserts as easily as for a swim in the sea.

Moving to the Camera, the iPhone 7 packs a really fantastic cam that can be the envy of everyone else. Charged with OIS (Optical Image stabilization), the camera also has Apple’s self developed image processor which identifies objects in the shot you take. Sweet!

The camera has received rave reviews from professional photographers who have already tried their hands at it and many are going as far as to name it an essential part of any professional’s array of tools.

While the rear camera comes with 12 Mega Pixels of pure photography with a six element lens and f/1.8 aperture, the front camera has been bumped up to 7 MPs from the 5 MP on the previous iPhone iterations as well. The iPhone 7 Plus on the other hand, comes with  two 12 MP cameras in the back.

Why the two cameras? Well, iPhone7 Plus uses the two lens combo to create DSLR/professional camera like quality, weather it is the shallow depth of field, or that “blur” you get behind someone when you take their picture with a professional cam. Apple has built the tech that can do this on its own, and its far, far beyond the results achieved by the use of any filter.

Meanwhile, the device also packs two stereo speakers — something that was much admired in the HTC desire series of devices.

Performance wise, the device is powered by an  A10 fusion has a four-core CPU: two high-performance CPU cores both of whom are 40% faster than than A9 on iPhone 6S and two “high efficiency” cores that run at 1/5th the power to save battery life. So weather you want to play some hardcore games, or make your battery run for longer on a trip — the iPhone 7 has you covered.

Speaking of GPU’s, the Graphic processing unit on this beast is 240 x faster than that on the first iteration of iPhone and can provide users with console level graphics. Meanwhile, the iPhone storage has been doubled as well and you now have a 32GB, 128GB and a huge 256GB variant.

And the best part? The device is available with price tags starting at just $649. On the other hand, the iPhone 7 Plus will start at $769. Not cheap, but certainly lower than what everyone was expecting. Pre-orders for these devices start on September 9 with the shipping kicking in just one week later.

So, are you ordering the iPhone? Do let us know your thoughts on Apple’s latest device. Meanwhile, we will be back soon with a more detailed article covering all the minutest details and nuances of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus soon. Stay tuned!
