8 Fun Things to Do With Your Kids

Whether it is the weekend, summer, winter break or just another day for you to bond with your kids, here are some super cool activities you can enjoy doing or sharing with your kids. From going to a museum, naming a pet, telling them jokes, to nature watching and to fun and challenging Riddles, not only you are banishing their boredom, but you’ll also save a lot of money too!

1. Riddles Just for Kids

I am a ray of sun, I am little, sweet, naughty but I am incredible, to your heart I am number one. What am I? KIDS! Engage your kids in the car, dinner or during playtime with fun and challenging riddles that will surely be a cure for boredom. You can start off with some easy riddles and then, as they gain confidence and learn reasoning skills, you can try out some hard riddles. Riddles are a fun way to incorporate math, science and other subjects and they won’t even know they’re learning. Here are examples of easy riddles:

A)The snowman needs me for him to be complete, I am a rabbit’s favorite food and if you put me in a cake, I’m sure I’ll taste real good. What am I? A carrot

B)What did the 3 little pigs do as they were running away from the big bad wolf who tried to destroy their houses? Wee Wee

And here are some examples of hard riddles:

  1. A) Sometimes I shine, sometimes I’m dull, sometimes I am big, and sometimes I am small. I can be pointy, I can be curved, and don’t ask me questions because even though I’m sharp, I’m not smart enough to answer you. What am I? A knife
  2. B) Which of the following is the largest? Triangle, circle, square, or rectangle? Rectangle, it has the most letters

Encourage those brilliant minds and teach them the craft of riddling.

2. Being With Nature

Spending time with kids doesn’t mean boring for them. Let mother nature help you de-stress, connect with your kids, get some fresh air and get lots of amusing adventures. Being outside your yard offers a wide variety of action to entertain kids. From bird watching, planting, to searching for some bugs. Many state parks also offers activities that are kid friendly such as swimming, fishing, going to see the zoo and even bike riding. Explore and appreciate mother nature and get kids busy for hours on end.

3. Consider Getting a Pet

Is everyone in your family not allergic to pets? If the answer is yes, considering getting a furry friend can be a valuable experience for a kid. Pets can teach kids maturity, responsibility, be caring and dependable. There is no pairing more powerful that kids and a pet. From getting a fish, a turtle, a guinea pig, a rabbit, a cat or a dog. Choosing cat names or fish names or bid names can be so much fun for kids. Enjoy the process and good luck.

4. Karaoke and Dance Night

Bust out those dancing shoes and a microphone for an entertaining night with your kids. Let them pretend to be a rock star and a la Taylor Swift and get them groovy and dance like a champion and sing like superstar. Nothing say like party time with costumes, disco ball and the song “Let it Go”.

5. Knock Knock Jokes

Channel those naughtiness and tell jokes with your kids. Develop their sense of humor and see those smile when they laugh no matter how silly the jokes are. Examples of these jokes are

  1. A) Knock knock, who’s there? Scold, Scold who? The freezer scold!
  2. B) Knock knock, who’s there? Yellow, yellow who? Yellow, are you there? No matter how silly the jokes are, kids will laugh and giggle for anything the find funny.

6. Treat Them With Treats!

Get the kiddos involved with a healthy, easy, kid friendly recipes and ideas. Let them explore new foods and treats, experience, learn and refine their cooking skills. From learning about nutrition, to measuring, to reading the directions to calculating inviting kids to the kitchen will be a great way to create a quality time together. Great example are baking cookies and cupcakes, setting up and making ice cream and ice cream station, making smoothies and even simple salads.

7. Build Your Own Tent

Grab a few sheets and you have a tent or a fort. Kids love having their secret space where they can do whatever they want and creep up to where they can feel alone. Boost your child’s imagination, creativity and their brain progress, ditch the technology and have a blast. Then, camp out in your tent and share some inspiring good morning quotes as you enjoy some hot cocoa and a sunrise.

8. Movie Night

Get the kids excited and let them make a simple dinner, simple treats like popcorn and pretzels, grab a bowl of fruit and let the party begin. Start a special family tradition that your kids will get thrilled about and treasure their whole life. Movies like Chicken Run, Nemo, Moana, Home Alone, Dumbo, and The Jungle Book to name a few. So grab a blanket, your popcorn and enjoy!
