Windsor WiFi users set to surge with not one, but two Royal Weddings in 2018!

With two Royal Weddings in Windsor this year, expected to attract thousands of home and international well-wishers to the area, the public WiFi network IntechnologyWiFi has deployed in the town centre should see a significant up-turn in users.

On 19 May, Prince Harry will marry American actress, Meghan Markle, at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, with the event expected to receive a level of international focus and interest akin to past Royal occasions, including the wedding of his brother, Prince William to Catherine Middleton in 2011.

Early indications suggest that in excess of 100,000 people will be in Windsor for the May event.

The wedding of Princess Eugenie to Jack Brooksbank will follow in October.

Both events will provide a huge boost to visitors and tourism in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, where IntechnologyWiFi has a contract with the local authority to provide free, public WiFi and official mobile applications to the towns of Windsor and Maidenhead.

The WiFi network IntechnologyWiFi has deployed in Windsor covers the entire town centre area. Nearly 40,000 people have already registered to use the service since its launch in June 2017. Further details on the service and coverage area can be found at www.RBWMFreeWiFi.com.

Plans are also in place to deploy extra equipment to boost the service at key capacity areas across Windsor during the first Royal Wedding in May. IntechnologyWiFi is currently working with the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead to finalise plans, with the Royal Household having recently released plans for the marriage procession to the media.

IntechnologyWiFi has previous experience of supporting large, outdoor events with free, public WiFi, including Hogmanay and the Summer Festival period in Edinburgh, as well as some of the UK’s highest profile music festivals, such as Reading and T in the Park.

We are thrilled that Windsor is hosting Harry and Meghan’s wedding in May and are honoured to be involved in the plans to make it a success for the happy couple and the thousands who will visit the town during the period.

Alongside the WiFi services IntechnologyWiFi has deployed to both Windsor and Maidenhead town centres, the company launched a new lifestyle mobile application platform, Citi-Wise, which takes users beyond the headline events with original editorial content on places to eat and things to do, as well as links to useful local services.

Citi-Wise will serve as the perfect accompaniment for those visiting Windsor for the Royal Weddings in 2018, providing a local lowdown of how best to enjoy and enhance their trip to the town.
