Lotus introduces an electric sports car with almost 2000hp

British Sports Car manufacturer Lotus has introduced the Evija, a fully electrically powered sports car with four electric motors, a total power of 1972hp and a torque of 1700Nm.

According to Lotus , the Evija will be the most powerful production car for the road. The four electric motors, one of which is intended for each wheel, accelerate the car from 0 to 100 km / h in less than three seconds and enable a top speed of over 320 km / h. The car weighs 1680 kg, which makes it the lightest all-electric hypercar according to Lotus.

The Evija has a battery placed in the middle of the car with a capacity of 70kWh and an output of 2000kW. The sports car therefore has a range of 400km according to the WLTP standard. According to Lotus, with existing technology, such as a 350kW charger, the battery can be charged up to eighty percent in twelve minutes and up to one hundred percent in eighteen minutes. The battery can also charge with 800kW on, whereby it would be fully charged in nine minutes. However, there are no commercially available charging systems that make this possible.

Lotus has equipped the Evija with headlights where the light is not produced by LEDs, but by lasers from the Osram company. Furthermore, there are no regular exterior mirrors, which have reduced air resistance. These have been replaced by different cameras, the images of which are shown on three screens in the futuristic interior.

The electric sports car from the British manufacturer will cost at least £ 1.7 million, equivalent to € 1.88 million. In addition, taxes are added. To get one, a deposit of £ 250,000 is required. Production starts somewhere in 2020 and a maximum of 130 copies of the Evija are made.
