Speedlink will release a new version of the Competition Pro joystick in January 2019 for € 29.99. The manufacturer supplies a download code for twenty games, including Summer Games, Aquanoid 2 and Bomber Warrior. The code only works for Windows.

Speedlink reports that the Competition Pro Extra has a USB-a-plug that supports USB 1.1 and has a polling rate of 125Hz. The controller can be used without installation software for PCs and Android devices and is suitable for other retro games than the included games. For the Competition Pro Extra to work on devices with Android 5 and later iterations, users do need an otg cable. This is not included with the joystick.

The original Competition Pro is used for the Commodore 64, Amiga, Atari XL and ST. The included games of the new joystick were first published on the mentioned platforms. It is not the first time that Speedlink re-releases the Competition Pro Joystick. The company released a version of the joystick in 2004 with a nine-pin d-sub plug connector. Six years later , a version with a USB connection came on the market. A CD-ROM with 99 C64 games is delivered. In September 2017, Retro Games Ltd. released a C64 mini console with a Competition Pro joystick .
