MongoDB is a cross-platform, document-oriented database. It is a so-called nosql database, which means that it does not use tables in a relational database, but json-like documents with dynamic schemes, something that MongoDB calls ‘bson’. The name MongoDB is a derivative of the English word humongous. The database lends itself perfectly to large environments and knows users such as eBay, SourceForge and Coinbase. The development team has released version 4.0.3 with the following modifications:
