Capcom closes studio behind Dead Rising games

Capcom Vancouver, the studio that made the Dead Rising games after the first two parts, will close. It is the largest studio of the developer outside of Asia. Approximately 158 employees lose their jobs.

Until January 2019 there will be a minimum occupancy, for the completion of the closure. In a statement to Kotaku , Capcom states that it has decided to close the Vancouver studio after it ‘reviewed the games that were still under development at Capcom Vancouver’. The developer wants the production and development of his largest titles to be performed in Japan. In February of this year, fifty of the two hundred and fifty employees were fired, making the future of the next Dead Rising game uncertain. What is going to happen with the Dead Rising series is not yet known.

Capcom Vancouver was founded in 2005. The first two Dead Rising Games were developed in Japan, but from 2010 the studio was given the assignment to work on the prosecutions. A total of two sequels, four dlc packages and a remake of Dead Rising 2 by Capcom Vancouver have been developed. Dead Rising is a third-person action game where the player has to fight hordes of zombies and at the same time have to search for other survivors.
