Huawei stops distributing codes to release boot loader

Huawei has announced that the company will stop distributing codes to release the bootloader. This makes it much more difficult to get root access to the company’s telephones and to install their own operating systems.

The new policy was discovered by a user of XDA , who encountered a report on the Huawei unlock page. In the message the company indicates that it is no longer possible to Request Unlock Codes for telephones that have been released after 24 May. For older models this option disappears in 60 days.

Why Huawei suddenly decided to implement this policy is only briefly explained. In this way, the company claims to create a better user experience and to avoid problems by flashing roms.

The page to request unlock codes for phones from Honor and Huawei went offline last month. In return, Huawei then placed a Google form online, with which the codes can still be applied for. This form has now been closed.
