The world’s latest technical report shows that the world has achieved a new technological breakthrough, with the number of people with over five billion mobile phone calls worldwide, or an estimated two-thirds of the world’s population.

The announcement came from GSMA Intelligence, the research arm of the commercial body representing the interests of mobile networks around the world.

GSMA offers instantaneous tracking of the world’s unique contacts and subscribers, now numbering more than 5 billion mobile users around the world. The “GSM A” figure is calculated using a “large database of mobile statistics and forecasts” that are updated daily.

Mobile phones outnumber individual subscribers. Many people have more than one SIM card. They use several phones for personal purposes or two phones: one for work and one for personal life. Some reports indicate that there have been five billion mobile phone connections since early 2010. The GSM defines the unique mobile subscriber as “an individual person who can represent multiple mobile connections (SIM cards).”

Although the data show that there are more than 8.1 billion Mobile Connections Worldwide, this figure includes the so-called M2M machine. GSMA estimates that there are already 7.7 billion mobile connections worldwide (including M2M).

“Accessing the 5 billion subscriber level is a huge achievement for an industry that is only a few decades old and reflects the billions of dollars invested by mobile operators in networks and services,” said GMA General Manager Mats Granride. For many years. ” “Today, the mobile phone is a truly global platform, providing connectivity and, perhaps more importantly, social and economic opportunities for citizens around the world.”

By comparison, GSMA data showed that there were 1 billion mobile subscribers in 2003, doubling to 2 billion by 2007, 3 billion by 2010 and 4 billion by 2013. It took four years For the last 1 billion mobile users, compared with three years in the previous billions, indicating a growing prevalence. ”

By the end of 2020, GSMA estimates that there will be 5.7 billion unique subscribers in mobile phones, representing about three-quarters of the world’s population. India is believed to account for nearly 30% of this growth.

“In the coming years, subscriber growth opportunities will focus on linking rural populations and low-income people primarily, so operators are developing a range of sustainable solutions to provide affordable connectivity to underserved communities,” said Granride. “At the same time, in mature markets where subscriber growth is slowing, operators are developing their business models to gain increased value within the mobile ecosystem, providing a platform for a new digital world and entering the 5G era.”
