ABSTRACT
Catalytic conversion of phenol and methyl isobuthyl ketone with NZ, H-NZA, Cr/H-NZA catalystshave been carried out. The NZ, H-NZA and Cr/HNZA catalyst were prepared trough acid treatment of the zeolite by immersing it into HF 1% solution for 10 minutes, continued by refluxed with HCl 6 M in the temperature of 90 oC for 30 minutes and then immersion in NH4Cl 0,1 M for a week accompanied by heating at temperature of 90 oC for 3 hours a day. The zeolite sample was then calculated at 500 oC for 5 hours to produce NZA catalyst. Hydrothermal the acid zeolite (NZA) catalyst was prepared by steaming the NZA catalyst at calcination temperature. Supporting chromium onto the H-NZA catalyst was carried out by ion exchange method, i.e. immersing the H-NZA catalyst in Cr(NO3)3.9H2O at 90 oC for 3 hours.

The catalytic conversion has been used a microreactorwhich was operated at 400 oC with ‘flow fixed-bed’ system and hydrogen as a carrier gas which at flow rate of 400 mL/minute. The result of catalytic conversion showed that the product conversion of phenol were benzene and sycloheksane, and the product conversion of methyl isobuthyl ketone were 4-metyl-2-pentanol and 2-methyl pentana. The higher product selectivity were sycloheksane (30,38 %) and 2-metyl pentane (9,20 %) which are used Cr/H-NZA catalyst.
