In a recent Study by Vanderbilt University, it has been shown that filtering out the unnecessary information, just like humans forget things, may facilitate better performance for artificial intelligence.

The research involved a robot measuring WiFi signals and creating a map of its surroundings. The researchers tested different algorithms, including one that remembers everything, one that automatically disregards oldest information, and one that disreagrds random information.
