Jaguar might switch to a fully electric lineup

In the next decade Jaguar could swap out all of its four-, six- and eight-cylinder engines for Fully Electric powertrains. A new report claims that Jaguar Land Rover is currently looking at the idea of Jaguar becoming an EV-only brand within the next decade.

Autocar is reporting that Jaguar Land Rover’s product planners have put together a strategy that would replace all of Jaguar’s fossil fuel-powered vehicles with Electric vehicles within the next five to seven years. If the plan gets the green light, the next-generation XJ will become a fully electric sedan that will rival the upcoming Porsche Taycan and the Tesla Model S.

If the next-generation Jaguar XJ switches to a fully electric powertrain, it will be positioned as an alternative to other flagship sedans, like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7 Series.

After the electric XJ arrives, the XE and XF might be replaced by an electric crossover in 2023. The next-generation I-Pace is expected to arrive in 2025. The report also claims that the E-Pace and F-Pace models could be phased out in 2025. Regarding the F-Type, Autocar is reporting that it will disappear in the first half of the 2020s, but other recent reports have claimed that a next-generation F-Type is scheduled to arrive in 2020, possibly with a BMW engine under the hood.
