iOS 12 supported devices and unique features

Apple has released the public version of iOS 12 since the beta program started on 4th June, 2018. The update is the most optimized of iOS update, it does not slow down older phones. iOS 12 supports iPhone devices from 5s and iPad device from mini 2. We looked at the all of the new features introduced in iOS 12 and other features aside Screen time and AI based feature in iOS 12 is just Apple Inc playing “catch-up” with Google. Apart from Screen Time, the new OS builds most of its unique feature around artificial intelligence – Augmented reality.

Apple did more of optimizing with iOS 12. Camera launch is 70% faster and keyboard pop-up 50% faster. App launch, Apple says is 2X faster, even under workload. All of these optimization can be experienced even in iPhones as old as 5s. Users have more reason not to skip updates.

Facetime with up to 32 people

Facetime with up to 32 people is coming later this year. To make conversation more flexible, the tile of the person currently speaking gets relatively bigger. Adding to the list of new stuffs with iOS 12 is Memoji. An animated way to express yourself. You can creatively create a replica of yourself that you can share on Messages or Facetime. In short, Memoji is a personalized Emoji.

Shared AR

One striking feature of iOS 12 is the improved AR compatibility. It enables you share the experience with others. ARKit for developers is more powerful as it gives developers more room to create immersive AR experience. iOS 12 has Thanos’s reality stone. Developers can create multiplayer Augmented Reality that can be shared via messages and viewed in the real world.

Apple has this time gotten ahead Google!.

How long you use your phone and which app you spend most time with can now be tracked with the all new Screen Time. If user analysis is taken and shared, my best bet is that Facebook will be app iPhone users spend more time. Apple understood that smartphones can be very engaging, so the threw in an app to help keep check of overuse. If you own an iPhone not listed below, its time you get a newer iPhone.
